10 January 2025“I never collect piles anymore”
Anders Valsbråten at Åsmund Pettersen & Sønn AS in Norway can work much more efficiently after his excavator was equipped with OilQuick's automatic quick-coupler system. Now, he no longer collects rocks in piles, but breaks them immediately when he encounters them.
– OilQuick is very effective for jobs where you need to change tools frequently. Just press the screen to attach or detach the tool. It’s a huge difference compared to switching manually, when it could take ten minutes, or even longer if a coupling was stuck, says Anders Valsbråten, who is an excavator operator at Åsmund Pettersen & Sønn AS.
Anders drives a Volvo 250 equipped with quick-couplers and a tiltrotator from OilQuick. At the moment, he is at Lygna Ski Center, where he is involved in developing a new cabin area. The tasks include, among other things, building roads, helping with demolition, and digging for water and sewerage. The tools he mainly uses for this job are toothed buckets, hydraulic breakers and jibs.
– The tiltrotator is not built for digging in the kind of rock we’re working with now. We use it mostly for finishing, he says.
It was about a year ago that Anders started driving with OilQuick's fully automatic quick-coupler system and, according to him, it has made a big difference in the way he works. Now he always changes tools when the need arises, which he did not do before.
– If there is, for example, a large stone in the road, I can detach the bucket, attach the hydraulic breaker, break the rock, reattach the bucket and continue digging. The switch itself only takes a few seconds. It wasn’t like that when I had to switch the tool manually. Then I used to collect stones in a pile and break them later, because it was so complicated and time-consuming to switch, he says.
He cannot imagine even a day without the quick-coupler system.
– No, I will never go back. I think it works great. It is efficient, hassle-free and very simple, he says.
